The Social Security Death
Index or SSDI database originates from the Social Security
Administration. It contains the records of deceased persons who were
assigned Social Security numbers and whose deaths were reported to
the SSA. If you
find a person in the Death Index you will learn the date of birth,
date of death, and Social Security Number for that person, as well
as, the applicant's state of residence at the time he applied for
the card. The SSDI currently contains over 75,000,000 individuals
and is updated monthly.
