First Courthouse, Rockwall, built 1874

The first courthouse was a 2-story wooden frame Italianate style building designed by architect James Edward Flanders.  The building burned on January 27, 1892.

Second Courthouse, Rockwall, built 1892

The second courthouse was a 2-story stone Richardsonian Romanesque structure, built at a cost $25,000. 

It was torn down in 1938.

Third Courthouse, Rockwall, built 1940

The third courthouse, built in 1940, was sitting vacant in 1999 after the opening of a new courthouse.  It is currently referred to as the "Rockwall County Historic Courthouse) and houses the offices of the County Judge, County Commissioners, Environmental Health Coordinator and the Tax Office.  Located at 101 E. Rusk St., Rockwall, TX 75087.
