Morgan, Hayes

Surnames

Researcher: Ruth A. McVey

Morgan:  Great-grandfather Alvin Morgan was listed on the 1860 Sabine Pass, Jefferson Co., TX census with my great-grandmother Eliza Morgan, two sons (Almond 2 TX & Leonard 3/12 TX), Malesian (Melissa Ann) Myers (sister of Eliza) & Francois Gallier. No marriage document found to date for Alvin Morgan or Elisa/Eliza Myers and believe my great-grandmother may have died in 1861.  GGF Alvin Morgan not found on any 1870 US census and believe he may have worked and resided in either Jackson or Victoria counties during that time. Grandfather Morgan listed either Almon or Alvin Morgan age 12 on the 1870 Victoria County census in the household of James & Melissa (nee Melissa Ann Myers) Chambers, maternal aunt and their two daughter's.

Alvin Morgan would settle in Brazoria County and the city of Alvin was named for him. Very little history is known about him before he came to Texas and before he settled in Brazoria County. I'm unable to travel and appreciate any assistance in researching my ancestor's.

Hayes: Rudolph "Rudy" Hayes was the father of Sarah Elizabeth Hayes and the family may have been living in Jackson County in the 1870's.
