Researcher: Bill Matthews My website includes my grandfather (John Garrett Matthews) autobio .. he grew up in Jackson Co. My great grandfather's (Erastus Allen Matthews') second wife was Lenora Helena Brackenridge, sister to George Brackenridge. The Allen Matthews that is buried at the Brackenridge Cemetery was his youngest child. E.A. and Lenora separated a couple of years after E.A. Jr died. She moved to San Marcos, and for a while dropped one of the Ts out of her name. However, when she buried her children at the San Marcos City Cemetery - the T was restored. There is also a book on George Brackenridge by Dr Mary Ann Sibley that was published in early 1970 that talks about Jackson Co during the Civil War period. My great-great-grandfather/mother (Loderick and Mary Matthews) are buried out at El Toro on land that he bought in 1851. Cemetery photos
