Old Main, Sam Houston State Normal Institute, Huntsville, Texas 1928
Old Main, the administration building, was the first permanent building at the college that would later become Sam Houston State Univeristy (SHSU). Built in 1889-1890, Old Main housed classrooms, an upstairs auditorium, and adminstrative offices for most of its lifetime. The building, situated on the top of a hill, faced toward the city of Huntsville. The university's quadrangle was later built behind the building.
Sadly, the two-story Victorian building burned down in 1982.
