First Courthouse, Cooper, Texas, 1881

The 1881 courthouse was a wooden structure. The courthouse burned on March 9, 1899.  Most of the county's records were safely stored in a fireproof vault.

Second Courthouse, Cooper, Texas, 1900

The second courthouse, built in 1900 to replace the 1881 courthouse, was a three story brick and stone structure with tower or cupola.  Demolished to built the 1940 courthouse.

Third Courthouse, Cooper, Texas 1940 - current Courthouse

The third and current courthouse was built as the Works Projects Adminstration project.  The four-story Classic Revival Style building was designed by architect Hook Smith and cost $110,450.

The exterior was updated in 1977.
