Texas' Cemeteries Need Your Help!

As you browse these pages it will become apparent that many of our cemeteries are being lost, and it is hoped you will find it within your heart to adopt one. Browse our cemetery lists and you'll see that many, many cemeteries need your help.

For those who are already caring for a cemetery, we hope that you will allow that information to be listed here.  When an adopted cemetery is listed, others who live at a distance may see your efforts and want to contribute in some way.

• Clearing brush, debris, and trash from it on a regular basis.

• Attempting to contact a family member if a stone
  needs to be replaced.

• Try to secure the land it rests on and have that land dedicated to cemetery use in the county records.  This process is what the Historic Texas Cemetery
  project is all about.

• Recording the information the cemetery contains,
  then distributing that information to the county clerk's office, or a near by library.

A cemetery can be adopted by anyone - moms, dads, high school and college students, senior citizens, civic groups, church groups, businesses, families.... even you!
